Medical and emergency help in Japan

Life in Japan is cool and hassle free if a person knows the right place to approach for help. Things are made so simple and systematic that if we follow the correct procedure, even the complicated problem will turn easy.

Living in Japan, we must be aware of some important telephone numbers and contact numbers. This will make the life easier and also we can help out those who are in need. Many foreigners feel trouble with the language in medical clinics.

Medical information service provides useful information on the clinics that have services in foreign languages. Information service center operates from 9:00 hours to 20 hours (9;00 AM to 8:00 PM). They provide services in English, Korean, Thai, Spanish and Chinese languages.

In emergency health related troubles we can call the ambulance. If you fall sick or get injured unexpectedly at home or during travel and find nobody to help, dial 119 for emergency help. The fire department in Japan has proved their efficiency in saving many lives with their quick action.

Dial 119 when you are in real trouble, fire engines and or ambulances will reach immediately for the help. We can dial 119 from the mobile phones, but when making a call from mobile phone tell the fire department that you are calling from mobile phone. From public phones, press the emergency button and then press 119. Tell them clearly that you need the ambulance service.

You have to tell them the name of the place where you are. If you can tell them the address, that will help them to reach faster. Giving hints about important landmarks will help them to locate you clearly. If you are trying to help your friend who is injured or fell sick try to describe your friend’s condition. It will help them to decide where to head for.

Now a days it has become a practice to call emergency service even for minor injury. Some people, who can manage themselves by calling a taxi and find out a hospital by themselves also call emergency service thinking that it is the duty of the emergency staff and is the right of the tax payer. Such attitudes will push the emergency service staff  to overwork and those in real danger may not get service in time.
